Steve opened the fridge the other night after returning home from work and found the cake below waiting for him. I think it was at that moment as he was staring at this lemon-curd filled cake with coconut/cream cheese frosting that he knew he had definitely married his soul mate. ;) hee-hee

The reason my heart looks a little 'sad' in the first picture above is because we cut it with a serrated knife, and I used a box mix (which tend to be less dense and fall apart when cut).

At the age of 3 my parents loaded me, my 3 month old baby sister Rozlynn and our belongings into a U-Haul truck and drove from SLC, utah to the Bay Area in California so my dad could attend UC Berkeley.

We remained in Walnut Creek, which is approx. 20 miles outside of San Francisco for the next 15 years. My childhood consisted of barefoot summers, long bike rides on the amazing bike trails in Northern California, fresh raspberry's, warm Christmas days, lots of Winter rain, rap/hip hop music, weekly trips to the beach and "good" wholesome fun with High School friends who I love dearly and who contributed to the person I've become today.

I love where I grew up. I hope to give my children the same opportunity for growth, personal discovery and good old-fashion fun.

There is the most darling shop/bakery about 10 minutes from my house called The Sweet Tooth Fairy. They sell cakes, cupcakes, cookies, trinkets and ...(drum roll please)...cake bites.

This leads us to my next thought..."how can I make these?". Because being Brooke, I can't just enjoy something and leave it to the experts, I have to figure out how they did it and try to do it myself. This way of thinking has lead to some colossal failures, but I've also had some pretty impressive successes.
I have researched this process and from everything I've read, it's virtually impossible to duplicate The Sweet Tooth Fairy's cake bites, but there are cake bite recipes out there. I have found a relatively simple one that I am going to try this week and let you know how it measures up.

3. purchase fusible web and fuse the pattern to your choice of fabric, for more detailed instruction go to CURBLY. 4. cut out the shape and fuse it to your shirt. (I bought all the shirts you see in the pictures above for $2-$3 on sale at Wal-mart). 5. take your sewing machine and just sew around the edges to keep it in place.
