While Steve was in Brazil we had our baby! He was born July 19th ( 2 weeks early) and weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces. Labor went well and 5 hours after my 22 year old brother drove me to the hospital we had a healthy baby boy! I think my poor brother aged about 5 years that day, but he was great and so was the rest of my family, within an hour and a half of arriving at the hospital I had my family there with me.
Steve was extremely sad to miss this event and kept telling me how sorry he was and how much he wished he were with me...needless to say Steve came home Monday morning to a brand new baby. The reunion was so sweet and he and baby bonded immediately.
My cousin's wife, Caitlin has started her own interior design firm called CC Interiors. Here is a picture of one of her first projects. I think it looks so fresh and clean. To see more of this room and her design ideas click here.
I have never been one for the whole Cricket trend and vowed to myself I would never have vinyl writing on my walls anywhere in my house, no offense to anyone that has them they are just not my thing. But I found this adorable website that has some vinyl wall stuff that I actually think is quite cute. These are from an adorable store called fawn&forest.
I think that this after picture looks like something out of Anthropologie! I love it and it looks so simple, I'm sure it is. I got this from Design Sponge. I love their before and after section.
This last weekend I was in Logan for a couple of days. While there my mom had picked a basket of Lavender and at about 10:30 that night we tried to make a Lavender wreath. It took us a while and we almost threw in the towel, but working together we made one! Yippee.
We thought it looked so simple, but of course it was way harder than it looked. But once we figured out how to do it, it was a cinch. After I have this little baby and can sit for more than 15 minutes without getting major cankles we want to make a bunch more!
Long story short, my husband arrived in Brazil with no luggage. So the family he was staying with took him shopping to find him at least one outfit. Well, when he went to the stores nothing fit (he is a head taller than most Brazilians with a more husky build) so all they could find was a huge oversized red hooded sweatshirt and tight tapered bright blue jeans (oh, and speedo feeling, according to Steve, tighty whitey underwear). He went to a movie premier and an after party dressed in these clothes! HA! He said everyone else was dressed in black and looked like they were going to some swanky club....and then there was Steve. Needless to say he stuck out like a sore thumb and they dubbed him "Mr. Incredible". HA!
Well, no one will forget who he is now. :) He got his bags the next day, few... He missed the opening night, but here are some pictures off the website, just click here.
mmm....basil. :) My mom is starting to add a section to her blog called Recipe Wednesday, where every Wednesday she adds a recipe or five. (five if we're all very lucky!)
One of her blogs was about Basil and she added some delicious recipes using basil. My personal favorite is called "Peggy's Pesto". Absolutely amazing, you can close your eyes while eating it and imagine you are in Italy eating a meal made with fresh herbs from the garden and pure extra virgin olive oil. Wow! I am getting hungry just thinking about it.
LONG STORY SHORT: My husband missed his plane to Brazil because his Visa and Passport were late arriving at the Atlanta airport due to TURTLES!
Yes turtles, 78 to be exact. Here is the story in the New York times. Because of these turtles Steve had to spend an entire 28 hours in Atlanta.
CRAZY!
For those of you who love cherry's, my mom just posted some delicious recipes using nature's candy. ;) Just click here to go to her recipe link.
As I get closer to my due date I have little to blog about and am just grateful to go to bed with the house relatively clean and my feet not aching horribly. I keep thinking, common Brooke, there has to be something to blog about!...nope not really. I could blog about my awesome cankles, my dangerously expanding bust line or the fact that within the last week or so half of the small wardrobe i had doesn't fit. But really who cares about all that stuff?
So to all of you out there who can sit in one position for more than 15 minutes, not wake up 8 times at night to go pee and can still see your toes...keep blogging for those of us who don't have the desire or energy to anymore!
So here the pictures from the film festival Steve will be in next week...yeah...Holy Cow! It's huge and yes he will be walking down the red carpet. Pretty freakin amazing! Here is the link to the site.
